Year Four Wollongong Camp On Tuesday the 5th of November, the whole of year four went on the Wollongong Excursion. We got up to some AWESOME things while we were gone! On our way there we went to the Nowra Air Fleet Museum, where we learnt some interesting facts about airplanes and helicopters. Next we got to Berry park to eat lunch and to have a quick toilet stop. After that we went to Minnamurra Rainforest where we saw lyrebirds scratching for bugs and stinging plants standing tall and strong. We also learnt how to tell North from South if we were lost, by how lichen grows on trees. We went for a bush-walk on the boardwalks of Minnamurra. We saw waterfalls, beautiful trees with vines and really cool creatures! We learned that the lyrebird is called a lyrebird because there used to be an instrument called a lyre and it looks like the tail of a lyrebird. We then hopped back onto the bus to take off to the Wollongong Surf Leisure Resort, where we settled in our cabins before dinner. After dinner we went to the Big Green Trampoline (Flipout!) Flipout was amazing! There we got up to lots of fun, front flips into the foam pit and bouncing around on trampolines! When we left Flip Out we went back to our cabins and jumped into bed. The next day we fled off to the Nan Tien Temple full of culture and Buddhism. There we split up into two groups and explored the wonders of the areas around us. We rang the Bell of Gratitude and thought of something to be grateful for. We learned about the History of Buddha and peace. We had to take off our shoes to enter the Main Shrine and could only enter through a special door. We came back to our cabins and some people got ready to go to the pool (some others didn't feel like it.) When they came back we went to University Of Wollongong Science Centre there we also split into two groups: One group got to try out some science projects, while the other group got to watch a movie clip called We are Stars. The movie was inside a big dome and was about the origins of life. When we watched the movie there it felt like we were spinner in outer space. Then we went to Flagstaff Hill where we got Mr. Whippy’s ice cream (the best ice cream in the world) we had to watch out for seagulls and Wales! That night we went BOWLING! It was really fun! On the last day we went to Jamberoo Water Action Park where we split into pairs and got to eat burgers for lunch. We were able to run off with our partner and go on lots of fun water slides for five hours! Then we came home and saw our parents with lots of stories to tell and souvenirs! We would like to thank Mrs Hounsell, Mrs. Mulcahy, Mrs Morgan Simon and Mr Camilleri for organising this awesome camp! -Written by Anna and Sophie Hi everyone, the big event draws closer!
